Novus Energy, a leading renewable energy company based in Sowerby Bridge, is celebrating a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to sustainability and community support. The company has successfully installed its 400th solar panel system on social housing properties, providing clean, affordable energy to families across the region.

Founded with the mission of making renewable energy accessible for all, Novus Energy works to bring innovative solar solutions to residential and commercial sectors alike. This milestone highlights the company’s dedication to improving the environmental footprint of social housing, offering substantial savings to households while reducing carbon emissions.

Novus Energy’s Director, Dan Cawdron expressed his pride in the company’s achievements: “Reaching 400 solar installations on social housing properties is a huge moment for us. It’s a testament to our team’s hard work and our partners’ trust in us to deliver sustainable energy solutions. We are committed to empowering communities with affordable, green energy while tackling the pressing issue of climate change.”

The social housing initiative is part of Novus Energy’s broader strategy to contribute to the UK’s net-zero goals by 2050. With solar energy at the forefront of renewable technology, each installation is estimated to reduce a household’s carbon footprint by approximately 1 Tonne of CO2 annually. Over the lifetime of the systems, the savings equate to almost 8000 long haul flights avoided.

In addition to the environmental benefits, the solar systems offer tangible financial savings to residents. Many households have reported significant reductions in their electricity bills, with some saving up to 60% annually. The cost savings come at a crucial time as many families face rising energy prices.

Novus Energy is working closely with local authorities and housing associations to expand the programme even further, with plans to install an additional 700 systems over the next year. The company remains committed to creating a positive, lasting impact by making solar power an accessible and reliable energy source for all.

“Social housing providers are leading the way nationally on reducing emissions for domestic properties” Mr Cawdron added. “Not only does this see a large amount of properties decarbonised, but also helps those who need it the most save money on their bills”.
